I’m Elysam! I started this blog to motivate myself to put pen to paper (or fingers to keyboard in this case). “All That Apply” comes from the idea of checking off a list of all the things that apply to me. That includes bits of how I identity, thoughts, passions, experiences, etc. I occupy plenty of gray areas and want to explore that, too.

BACKGROUND

I was born and raised in a multicultural household next to the school I attended my whole childhood. My parents and grandparents raised me reeking of fresh air and grass stains. Sports and education were deeply ingrained at a young age. Maybe those were just attempts to curb my ADHD; we can only guess (or I can just ask my mom).

My mom is a blue-eyed, small town girl from northeast Ohio and my dad is a city boy from Makassar, Indonesia. After high school I moved away from home to study at the University of Cincinnati. I stayed in the area for a couple years post graduation before deciding it was time for a change. A big change. Everything’s bigger in Texas, right?

WHERE AM I NOW?

For the time being, I’m based in Dallas living with one of my best friends and working an 8-5 desk job. The game plan is to develop outside of my career. That’s where y’all come in. Feel free to join as I write, revise, and check off my list of all that apply.
